Let’s take a look at a the Word to help understand this observation.  Here we have Jesus teaching from a boat in Mark chapter 4. Turn there, when you have it say Amen.  When Jesus was done teaching the multitude, He shared what He taught with His disciples and expounded on the parables that He had just shared.  He then said in verse 35, “Let us pass over unto the other side.”   This meant that they would board the ships, and begin their journey to the other side of the sea.  There was the ship Jesus was on, and there were other little ships making the journey as well.  That brings us to verse 37 as something changes.

37 “And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.”

Think back to how we looked at different positions bringing different experiences in the same season.  Here we have the same boats, in the same sea, in the same area, however we find two different experiences.  The first experience to note is the experience of the disciples and all others who were on the boat.  They were in a panic and had determined they were about to die. That was their position; their point of view or attitude as we see in the definition above.  Then there was the experience of Christ, that through the great storm He was fast asleep.  They could not understand why Jesus would sleep at a time like that.

We now pause for a and important word from our sponsors:

Phillipans 4:7 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Isn’t it something that someone cannot understand why you have peace when you are going through the same thing they are going through?  Christ is on the boat in peace, and no one could understand why He could sleep at a time of a great storm, so great that the boat was full of water and they stood face to face with death.  When you have obtained the peace of God through your faith, no matter what you go through, you can exhibit peace in a time that you should be in distress.  And that my good brothers and sisters is the peace of God.
